Zita: Ministry management for the people who make Church happen
Every Sunday runs on quiet, invisible labor. Someone checked the schedule, confirmed the acolytes, set out the chalices, arranged the flowers, and made sure the right vestments were out. That work has always been done with a combination of memory, paper lists, and group texts — because no tool was ever built for it.
Zita is that tool.
The app is named after St. Zita, patron of household stewardship — reflecting the theme of faithful, unglamorous behind-the-scenes service that makes worship possible.
Liturgical Calendar and Service Scheduling
Zita generates your service schedule directly from the church calendar. Enter your year and select your service days, and Zita fills in the feast days, moveable feasts, seasonal colors, and default mass types automatically — from Septuagesima Sunday through Christ the King. Services can be edited individually, and custom feast days can be entered for anything not in the standard calendar. The full liturgical color cycle is built in, including rose for Gaudete and Laetare Sundays.

Guild and Role Management
Organize your volunteers into guilds — Altar Guild, Acolytes, Ushers, Flower Guild, or whatever your parish uses. Each guild has its own roles, and roles can have multiple slots. Members are assigned to the roles they serve, and that membership drives the scheduling pool for every service. Inventory management — tracking wafers, linens, candles, and other guild supplies — is coming in a future update.

Role Assignment and Scheduling
Assign members to their roles service by service, with a clean grid view across your full schedule. Guild leads can manage their own guild’s assignments. Administrators see everything. The assignment picker shows who is available and who is not, so you’re never accidentally scheduling someone who is away.

Unavailability Tracking
Members can mark themselves unavailable for any date range — vacation, travel, surgery, anything. Those ranges are visible to guild leads and administrators when making assignments, and any existing assignments that fall within an unavailability window are flagged with a warning so nothing slips through.

Role-Based Access
Not everyone needs to see everything or change everything. Zita has four permission levels — Super Administrator, Administrator, Guild Lead, and Standard Member. Guild leads manage their own guild. Members can mark their own unavailability and view their upcoming assignments. Administrators manage the full church. Access is controlled, but everyone is working from the same live data.

Private by Design
Adding a new member is straightforward. Enter their name and email, send an invitation, and Zita handles the rest — a secure CloudKit share link and a one-time invitation code arrive in their email. They install the app, enter the code, sign in with Apple, and they’re in. No passwords to manage.
Access to your church’s data is strictly invite-only. No one can see or join your church in Zita without a direct invitation from an administrator. Your roster, your schedule, and your guild data are private to your team — secured by Apple’s CloudKit infrastructure and Sign in with Apple, with no third-party servers involved.

Liturgical Data
Zita’s calendar is built from the Churchman’s Ordo, the annual liturgical almanac used by traditional Episcopal and Anglican parishes. The fixed feast days, moveable feasts, seasonal colors, and mass type defaults reflect the liturgical calendar as observed in that tradition.
Zita is designed for Episcopal and broadly Christian parishes following a traditional liturgical calendar. The underlying data model is calendar-agnostic, and support for additional rites and traditions is a planned future enhancement.
Pricing
Zita is free for churches with up to 20 active members. No credit card required, no trial period — just download and set up your church. Paid plans for larger rosters are available through the App.
